Important Information About the H.S.A. Conference

Dear Colleagues,

We hope this message finds you well. We would like to thank you for your interest in participating in this year’s conference in Washington D.C. at Howard University (October 7 – 9, 2022). We look forward to seeing you!

Haiti–based Presenters

Regrettably, due to the denial of travel visas as well as the ongoing political instability resulting in peyi bloke/peyi lòk, many of you who are based in Haiti will be unable to travel to the United States to attend the conference. As a special outreach to our Haiti-based colleagues, we were able to arrange extra technical support for two (2) Zoom sessions on Sunday, October 9 from 8:45 -10 a.m. and from 9:45 – 11 a.m. (Eastern time). Click here if you are currently in Haiti and would like to present on Sunday via Zoom. Please respond by Tuesday October 4, 2022 (7 p.m. EST).

If you are unable to participate in the conference either in-person or via Zoom, we are happy to consider your paper for next year’s conference in Atlanta, GA.

Transportation in Washington, D.C.

For information about ground transportation from the airport, click here.

We will be providing transportation from our conference hotel, Yours Truly DC, to Howard University and back on Saturday, October 8. Hours for pick-up and drop-off will be posted in the hotel lobby.

Technology at Howard University

Please remember, if you are presenting on Saturday you are expected to provide your own laptop if you intend to present slides or AV materials. Presentation rooms will have a projector and speakers you can connect to with an HDMI cord. If your computer requires an adaptor, please be sure to bring your own as this is not something that Howard University will have available on-site.

Sunday sessions at George Washington University

To take full advantage of being in Washington, D.C. we have accepted an opportunity from George Washington University to host our Sunday conference events at the Milken Institute – School of Public Health (950 New Hampshire Ave NW, Suite 300 Washington, DC 20052).

This site is a short, 8-minute walk from Yours Truly DC and all presentation rooms have full AV capacity.

Meals; Please Confirm Banquet Attendance

Most meals are provided, including the Conference Banquet on Saturday, October 8 (for those who have registered). Vegetarian options will be available.

H.S.A. Banquet on Saturday:  If you are registered for the Conference and interested in attending the Banquet on Saturday, October 8 at 7 pm, please confirm your participation here. A limited number of extra banquet tickets are available for purchase.
