ICLS – Haitian Creole Language Instructor

Message from International Center for Language Studies:

Subject: URGENT- Haitian Creole Linguists needed at DoS/FSI

Dear Haitian Creole Linguists,

I hope my email finds you well. Please note that we currently have a full-time opening for Haitian Creole Language Instructor II (LI2) at Department of Sate’s Foreign Service Institute (FSI). This position is to support a test kit project for the Language Testing Administration (LTA) at FSI. This position is scheduled to start on 3/1/2023, and temporarily scheduled to end on 8/31/2023 with a high likelihood of possible/further extensions.

This is a full-time position (8 hours a day / 40 hours per week / Mon-Friday). This position is 100% telework, but selected candidate(s) will be required to come to Washington DC area to get their DOD badge issued, and the appropriate Government computer account setup.  The hourly rate for this position is $45.02 ($93,641.6) with full benefits. The LI2 position requires at least 3 years of experience teaching Haitian Creole to adult learners in group classes (not private/freelance/tutoring or online), and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. If you don’t meet the LI2 requirements, you may be considered for a lower labor category (i.e., LI1) with an hourly rate of $38.27 ($79,601.6 annual).

If you are interested in this opportunity, and willing to come to the DMV area as needed (at your own expense) for badging and other technical matters, and eligible to work for any employer in the U.S., please ensure to send us (Svetlana and I) the following information ASAP (we will handle resumes on a first come, first served basis):

a) Send us your most recent/updated resume with your language teaching/testing/curriculum development experience.

b) Let us know where you were born, raised, and educated. This is to satisfy a contractual requirement on how you acquired the culture where the language is spoken.

c) Please let us know your current location (City and State). Only candidates who are willing to come to the DMV area (FSI campuses) as needed will be considered.

d) Please confirm you immigration/work authorization status (i.e., U.S. citizen or a legal resident with a current/valid work authorization, etc.). Only candidates with a valid work authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. can be considered. We can’t sponsor immigration visas or applications.

Once we get your response with all the required information and resume, I will send you a Letter of Intent (LOI) to sign digitally so we can submit your application to FSI for consideration. Please remember that it’s first come, first served. We look forward to hearing from you!

NOTE- Please send one email with all the information needed (we will disregard any email that doesn’t contain all required information as mentioned above). Thanks!
