Call for HSA Digital Fellow (Nov. 15, 2024)

The Haitian Studies Association (HSA) is seeking a Digital Fellow to help expand and develop the Association’s digital platforms. The fellowship’s responsibilities include:

  • Soliciting multilingual content (Kreyòl, English, French, and possibly Spanish and Portuguese) to populate Konbit Konesans, HSA’s Open Access platform where members share and access publications, resources and syllabi
  • Ensuring that solicited content is either Open Access (OA) or the Author’s Original Version (AOV) or partial proof of a published work
  • Ensuring that the Konbit Konesans is a multilingual platform (English, Kreyòl, French)
  • Meeting regularly with designated supervisors
  • Membership and participation in the HSA’s Communications committee
  • Other related duties as assigned

 Fellowship Detail

  • The Fellowship will run for five months, with a tentative start date of January 2025.
  • The Fellow will receive HSA annual membership and free conference admission for the duration of the fellowship.
  • The Digital Fellow will receive an annual stipend of $5,000.
  • The role will vary between 10-15 hours per week

 Required Qualifications

  • Current or recent graduate student with strong indexing/organizational abilities (ideally an information/library science/digital humanities background, or an extensive research background)
  • Interest in digital humanities, public scholarship, and/or decoloniality.
  • Reading proficiency in 1) English 2) Kreyòl and 3) French
  • Writing proficiency in 1) English 2) Kreyòl and/or French
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Experience with web design, web page maintenance, SEO
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Writing proficiency in English, Kreyòl, and French
  • Reading/writing proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Translation experience
